“We’re going to Ah Mah’s house for dinner.”

Keith said every word clearly. Very slowly, but he said “for” for the first time. At 11 years and 8 months. And “house” has a clear “s” articulation.

This is his beginning of true engagement with the world because now his words can be understood. And it matters.

His intentionality to communicate with me is as clear as his words. He said them confidently and without my having to prompt him.

He has many more stories to tell, opinions to share.

Right now they are tumbling out and I let them tumble out, in however a manner, pattern, sequence, sound that they are being expressed.

Because it is in his discoveries that he will find his refinement.

And then they will truly be his words and he, his own person.
